Professional Independent Business Network
that aims to Inspire, Connect & Engage
After nearly a decade of inspiring, connecting, and engaging the local business community, the time has come to close the door on Electra Business Breakfast as an independent professional network.
Since 2016, Kāpiti Business Projects has proudly planned and delivered 104 events at Southward Car Museum, with the support of Electra as lead sponsor. Over this time, the programme welcomed 9,153 registrations, averaging over 1,000 attendees annually, and achieved an impressive Net Promoter Score of 61, reflecting the value and impact of the events.
Electra’s sponsorship played a vital role in keeping the programme accessible and Southward Car Museum also generously supported us with their venue, helping us deliver consistently high-quality experiences for attendees and speakers.
However, in March 2025, the venue advised they could no longer accommodate our regular booking beyond 30 September due to internal operational constraints, and new terms that were not viable for the programme’s continuation. Shortly thereafter, Electra shared their decision to step back as lead sponsor, effective 30 September, aligning with the venue.
Without significant sponsorship or a suitable alternate venue, Kāpiti Business Projects has made the difficult decision to wind up and exit the business breakfast in its current form. While this marks the end of an era, we remain open to transferring the programme’s intellectual property to others working in local economic development, potentially paving the way for a new chapter, perhaps under the banner of “Kāpiti Business Breakfast.”
On behalf of the team and our suppliers, it has been a privilege to plan and deliver Electra Business Breakfast since 2016. We thank everyone who has been part of the journey, and welcome enquiries from those interested in continuing the legacy.
As we close the chapter on this event, its digital profile will remain publicly accessible for a while longer. This is a gesture of appreciation for our long-standing sponsor, Electra, whose generous support and commitment over the years played a vital role in shaping the success of the programme. We’re proud to acknowledge their contribution as part of the event’s legacy and the impact we have made together.

Everyone is Welcome at Electra Business Breakfast
What is the Electra Business Breakfast?
It is an open, friendly and professional environment to meet-up with local business people over a full English (or continental) breakfast while listening to a top notch speaker.
The event provides local businesses an opportunity to network, to be stimulated, and informed by high calibre national speakers and talented local people who tell their stories.
Where & When?
It takes place at Southwards Car Museum in Paraparaumu, Kāpiti Coast on the first Wednesday of each month (except January), from 7:15am - 8:45am.
Who Will Be There?
Anywhere from 70 to 200 local people, including businesses from a variety of industries, who are there to network, listen, learn and be inspired.
Why Attend?
People attend the Electra Business Breakfast because they want to hear from an inspiring speaker, and/or want to be seen on a regular basis, maintain existing relationships, or network with new, likeminded local people.
You will usually meet someone new at each breakfast as seating is mixed up to allow for networking opportunities, so it's a good idea to bring your business cards.
Our sponsor, Electra, recognises that successful businesses are key to successful communities.
Electra is the exclusive sponsor who contracts Kāpiti Business Projects to plan and deliver the Business Breakfast programme each year. Electra owns and operates the electricity lines and assets in Kāpiti and Horowhenua. They are committed to delivering safe, reliable, affordable power to customers, and their aim is to maximise the annual sales discount credited to every account on their network.
Electra understands the need for the business community to be connected and the importance of socialising, learning and often negotiating opportunities when networking. Electra is proud to help provide local businesses an opportunity to network, collaborate, and be inspired by national and local speakers. It also compliments their sponsorship of the annual Electra Business & Innovation Awards that celebrate business excellence in Kāpiti and Horowhenua.
Ticketing
Humanitix is a ticketing platform and registered charity. All profit from booking fees goes to education projects that help to change lives. Electra Business Breakfast has chosen to support Manaiakalani Education Trust that supports Māori, Pasifika, and disadvantaged learners in Aotearoa to improve student outcomes and get equal access to digital education.

Can You Recommend A Speaker?
At the conclusion of each Electra Business Breakfast event, attendees are invited to respond to a short survey to gauge satisfaction, and to seek ideas and feedback about the event. They will also be asked for suggestions for speakers, or ideas for topics that we may be able to find a speaker for.
You can also make recommendations anytime using this form. If you know of a great speaker that perhaps you've heard speak before, and think would be of benefit to the Kāpiti business community, please fill out this form. Helene from Kāpiti Business Projects will review your suggestion, and if it's a good fit with the current programme, may try to secure that speaker.
